2002 SC&RA Hauling Job of the Year
Six months of planning preceded Burkhalter's rigging and transport of more than 50 heavy components across the Muskingum River in Ohio.
Shown to the right is one of the heaviest and largest components, a generator for a new power plant. To disperse the extreme weight and make the crossing of a 660 ft. bridge, Burkhalter deployed a special 32-axel configuration of its Goldhofer platform trailers.
Ohio Department of Transportation informed Burkhalter that its special hauling permit for a GVW of more than 848,000 lb. was the heaviest ever issued for a bridge crossing in Ohio.
