Burkhalter Multimodal Transport and Millwright Project Snapshot
Crews carefully position the 700,000 lb. crown of a mechanical press at a Southern manufacturing plant. Burkhalter provided turnkey transport from an inland port to the job site for the more than 4,000,000 lb. press and assembly.

Burkhalter moved the major components by deck barge, rolled-off, and hauled each piece 31 miles over public highway. Using Goldhofer platform trailers in a 3-file configuration, components up to 400,000 lb. were permitted to cross several bridges that included a major river crossing.

Burkhalter Specialized Transport delivered the remaining components from the port directly to its millwright crew for assembly.

Burkhalter Rigging assembled the mechanical press in fulfillment of its turnkey responsibilities. Each component was unloaded inside the new building and moved laterally 100 feet to a pit area for assembly. A 500-ton capacity J&R Engineering gantry system lifted the press bed, the slide, and assembled the crown.

Difficult multimodal transport and engineered rigging inside plants... Burkhalter provides single-source excellence and safety, from start to finish. If you don't think this saves money, we can show and tell how/how much. BACK
